On May Yuki's sister Michiko and her husband welcomed a new brother for their daughter Mayu into their family. 

We went to the hospital on delivery day to check out all of the excitement. 

Kotaro weighed in at 2.91 kg with a height of 48 cm on May 1, 2002 at 2:00 in the afternoon.  This was 2 weeks ahead of schedule so he had to spend a bit more time in the hospital than usual but he is doing fine now.  He and his mother have returned home to Yuki's folks house for a month (a tradition for newborn babies and mothers to do).

Kotaro's name consists of 2 Japanese characters.  The first one is ko and it was chosen because Kotaro had a tough start on life and the letter means that he has been washed clean of those bad days.  The other character is taro and it means cheerful.  Yuki's sister chose that character for his name because that is the way that she wants to bring him up.
