The laundry "room" isn't much of a room, it's just a spot for us to put our Panasonic "kind loving wife" model washing machine (men don't do much laundry over here).  The machine is they grey thing on the left.  Note the lack of a dryer.  Until recently, not something you would find over here - everyone dries stuff outside, but dryers are being introduced to the market lately.  The shower / cramped bath are separate from the washroom.  Japanese find it hard to comprehend why us westerners put out toilet in the same room that we use to clean our bodies (this kind of logic isn't very common).  Japanese baths are quite interesting in themselves.  Whether it is a home bath or a public bath the procedure is the same - see the camping page of this month for a bath procedure explanation.
